Fans of The Golden Bachelor: I’m going to be honest. This past week’s episode had me a bit concerned.
From April, Susan, Kathy, and Nancy’s decision to form a squad/clique/alliance/whatever you want to call it, to the drama with Kathy and Theresa, I felt like we were about to embark (or maybe we did) on some tired Bachelor Nation drama. The only thing that saved the episode for me (aside from Joan’s emotional one-on-one date) was the last 30 seconds, when the ASKN group was seen talking about meatballs and gas. More of that, please, and less mean girl gossip and drama.
With that said, we’re not done with the Kathy/Theresa situation, and while part of me is looking forward to seeing how this is going to unfold, I just don’t want to see the producers lean too much into it. The first two episodes proved the show is succeeding for a reason, and catty drama had nothing to do with why it’s been resonating with viewers.
In next Thursday’s episode, original Bachelorette Trista Sutter returns to the franchise to co-host a pickleball date with Jesse Palmer and the new Bachelor, Joey Grazaidei. While the ladies compete, it appears April goes down with an ankle injury; also, Ellen relishes in being better than everyone else. Speaking of Ellen, she tells Gerry she’s falling in love with him, and he says he’s in the same place. Meanwhile, one lucky lady goes on a date with Gerry, which ends up being an action-packed outing involving an ATV. (I hope Susan didn’t do this mystery woman’s hair ahead of time).
On Friday, Lessons in Chemistry airs its third episode, and if you haven’t watched already, please start. I explain why it’s worth your time in the Watch This video guide from last Sunday:
