The 8 Best Joggers for Men of 2024, Tested and Reviewed

Flexible and stylish, joggers are a fashion-forward alternative to sweatpants. Made with durable, lightweight, and comfortable materials that can do nifty things, like block the sun and wick away moisture, joggers today are more versatile than ever and an important item in any travel wardrobe.

But a lot goes into picking the right pair of joggers, including what activity you’re wearing them for (like hiking, training, lounging, or traveling) and what the weather is like — not all joggers are ideal for both warm and cool temperatures. And fit is important, too; joggers can sag down if they’re too loose or ride up on your ankles if they’re too short.

To choose the best joggers for men, we tested 37 pairs, reviewing them for comfort, versatility, performance, quality, and overall value. Our team will continue testing them for an additional six months to make sure they still hold up to our standards. Keep reading for our favorite men’s joggers.

Why We Love It

  • Perfect for travel, these joggers are extraordinarily soft, durable, breathable, and stylish.

The competition was fierce, but Mack Weldon’s Ace Sweatpant are our favorite joggers of 2024. We couldn’t get over how soft the French terry material was, and it held up without any pilling or signs of wear after a few washes. Great for traveling, the Aces were comfortable when sitting for more than an hour and when jogging. We found the waistband to hug the waist snuggly without the need to adjust it, and the breathable material kept us warm in cool temperatures. Despite the product’s name, these are clearly joggers as they have a sporty tapered cut and ankle cuffs. They also fit true to size — a size up would have been too big. They also come in a regular or tall fit.

Shallow pockets can be a recipe for a phone or keys falling out, but these pants have two zipper pockets to keep your stuff secure. And while we’d be mindful not to rub up against any rogue branches or brambles for fear of tears or snags, we’d be thrilled to wear these joggers anytime, anywhere. We only wish they came in more vibrant colors.

Alo Yoga Men's Co-Op Pants

Alo Yoga

While Alo might cater to yoga, we love these joggers for any type of exercise, whether that’s hitting the gym, running, or hiking. They’re breathable and made with a lightweight, ripstop cotton that feels great and keeps you cool. That said, these aren’t built for cold weather.

The Co-op Pant fits well, offering plenty of stretch for working out and everyday movement. One thing to note is these joggers don’t have a drawstring — though they have an elastic waistband. While we would feel more secure with a tie at the waist, they didn’t droop or sag down. The pants also held up without any signs of wear after a couple of washes, and they have two well-made zipper pockets.

lululemon License to Train Jogger

Lululemon says the License to Train Jogger was designed for everything from burpees to backpacking, and we have to agree. We wore them on walks, long car rides, rainy days, and bike rides. Overall, they felt great on the skin and had great stretch, especially at the waistband. However, we did find them a tad constricting on the thighs when sitting for more than two hours.

We love how light these joggers are and that they dry quickly in the rain. And the mesh material on the inner thigh helped prevent overheating during our testing period, especially when we sat for extended periods of time. That said, we wouldn’t recommend these for colder weather days. The look, feel, and quality of these pants are unquestionably outstanding, but they are a splurge.

Why We Love It

  • These are the perfect combination of comfort, function, and fit, and are a great addition to an active wardrobe.

These joggers fit like a dream. Our team member who tested this pair of pants found the tapered fit and ankle cuffs suit him perfectly, making these the most comfortable pair he’s ever tried. He wore them running a 5K, hiking, and working out, and they provided excellent stretch and breathability throughout — the perfect travel-day staple. They also did a great job wicking moisture and regulating body temperature in various weather conditions. You can also wear them for everyday activities, but we admit they aren’t the most stylish and are limited in color options.

They didn’t pill or show signs of wear after multiple washes, and the front zipper pocket and UPF-50 rating are nice bonuses. We also think the price is fair.

Patagonia Men's Quandary Joggers

Patagonia

Patagonia proves once again that its products can last a long time. The Quandary Joggers are made with postconsumer recycled nylon that’ll last a lifetime — and if it doesn’t, Patagonia will repair them. These practically rip-proof pants are made with a durable, water-repellent finish made without perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs/PFAS). Not only does this mean the pants won’t instantly get soaked if you’re caught in the rain, but they’re also easier on the environment (the recycled nylon is made from recycled fishing nets). Patagonia is also a certified B Corporation, a 1 percent for the Planet member, and, after reinvesting in the business, gives 100 percent of its profits to the Holdfast Collective — a nonprofit dedicated to combating the environmental crisis.

While using recycled materials and an environmental ethos are huge selling points, the joggers’ durability comes at a cost to overall comfort. We found these to be a bit rougher and more constricting than the other joggers on this list, and they may not be the best option for long car rides or flights. However, we do recommend wearing these as hiking pants or during camping trips.

REI Co-op Men's Trailmade Joggers

REI

REI clearly used quality materials to make its Trailmade Joggers. In our tests, we found these pants tough enough to withstand multiple washes and fend off any wet weather, though we’d avoid thorns as much as possible due to the light, thin material. We wore them on a long flight and a hike and were impressed with how comfortable they are. However, we did find that they sagged every time we bent over or squatted and were constantly having to pull them up. We also found that they run short, so if you are above average height, consider getting these pants in a tall size.

Why We Love It

  • Great for both fitness activities and running errands, these pants are light, durable, and come in fun colors.

At just 2.7 ounces in the legs and 3.5 ounces in the waist and cuffs, these jogger pants from Patagonia are extremely lightweight. We loved wearing them when traveling and lounging around. They’re also great for short hikes in warmer weather and offer UPF-40 sun protection — plus, they’re water-repellent and quick-drying. Considering how lightweight they are, these joggers are fairly durable, too.

The pants offer a tapered fit, which, while flattering, felt too tight around our calves. Another potential drawback is the shallow front pockets, which aren’t suitable for modern smartphones. While there is a back zipper pocket, it’s also too shallow. On a positive note, there are plenty of color choices.

Under Armour UA Sportstyle Joggers

Amazon

If you want a no-nonsense jogger at a fair price, check out the Sportstyle Joggers from Under Armour. With a range of available sizes (up to 4XL) and at two inseam lengths, these pants are a great option for different heights and shapes, and they’re great for lounging around, hiking, and working out. These joggers are ideal for cooler temperatures, but won’t do you wrong if it’s warm out as they can wick away moisture and dry quickly.

The front pockets are equipped with zippers, which is great, though we would’ve liked another zipper pocket on the back. While we found these pants to be comfortable, those more accustomed to a looser fit may consider sizing up.

Other Men’s Joggers We Liked

The above eight pairs are our favorite men’s joggers, but there were two other options that were close to making the list. Here are our honorable mentions:

Outdoor Voices Cloudknit Slim Sweatpant: The best part about these joggers is the material. They’re very breathable and softer, but are too light for cooler weather.

Nike Sportswear Tech Fleece: These joggers are also very soft and comfortable, but we found them to be a little restrictive and don’t understand what the long, zipper pocket on the right thigh is for beyond style.

Our Testing Process

To compile this roundup of the best joggers for men, we tested 37 pairs of pants and will continue testing for a period of six months. After receiving the joggers, we inspected each pair for loose threads, size discrepancies, and overall look before trying them on.

We wore the joggers at least seven times over the course of a month, during a variety of activities and in different temperatures. We reviewed the overall fit and performance while paying special attention to critical features like waistband comfort as well as room in the hip, thigh, and crotch. We also reviewed bonus features like zippers, moisture-wicking and water-repellent materials, UPF sun protection, and overall value. After use, we washed each pair several times to check for pilling and whether they showed signs of wear.

Tips for Buying Men’s Joggers

Think about what you plan to wear them for

Not every jogger on this list is built for every activity. While they might be comfy at home, some may slip down while working out or are too warm for a hike. Others may be too lightweight for cooler weather or too restrictive when sitting for several hours. Consider the primary use for your joggers — like for long flights, morning jogs, or running errands — before you buy.

Look for special features

While comfort is of course important, special features can enhance the utility of your jogger. Some joggers offer sun protection; are made out with a durable, ripstop material (to prevent tearing); or have a variety of zipper pockets for holding your things, whether you’re lounging or being active. Also, look for moisture-wicking materials if you’re wearing your joggers during vigorous activity. Again, keep in mind when you plan to wear your joggers and look for features suited to your desired activity.

Consider the weather at your destination

When choosing your jogger, be mindful of the weather wherever you’re traveling to. A light and breezy jogger, for instance, likely isn’t the best for cycling on cold, windy days or traveling to an icy locale. Similarly, a thick and cozy jogger is overkill on a hot summer hike. Also, look for moisture-wicking materials to help keep you dry and cool.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are joggers sweatpants?

Joggers and sweatpants are similar and the words can be used interchangeably, but no, they are not the same. Sweatpants are thick and cozy loungewear, while joggers are made with lightweight and breathable materials that are catered to performance activities like hiking and training. Joggers also usually taper at the ankle and have a cuff.

  • How do you style joggers?

An athleisure staple to any travel wardrobe, joggers are pretty casual, though you can easily style them with accessories to wear around town. Consider pairing them with a sweatshirt or a plain T-shirt and jean jacket with sneakers. While joggers are certainly more versatile than they used to be, they probably don’t pair well with a nice button-up shirt.

  • How should joggers fit?

Unlike sweatpants, joggers should fit snug, but not so tight that they restrict movement. When trying them on, make sure to bend down or squat in them — they should feel secure and shouldn’t slip down.
