Gwyneth Paltrow Says She’s Tried Botox ‘Successfully and Unsuccessfully’

Gwyneth Paltrow has always been an open book about facial injectables.

During one of her recent fan-favorite Instagram Q+A sessions, the Goop founder was asked if she’s ever tried Botox. Of course, the anonymous fan did not have to wait for an audience with Paltrow to discern this information. Back in 2013, the Marvel actor opened up about her negative experience with facial injections during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “I’ve probably tried everything,” she said when asked about her skin routine. “I would be scared to go under the knife, but you know, talk to me when I’m 50. I’ll try anything. Except I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy.”

Now that Paltrow is officially 51 years old, it was time to ask again, based on her own words. “God yes,” she responded to the fan on October 5. “Both successfully and unsuccessfully I’m afraid.”

There’s a reason Gwyneth Paltrow is an open book when it comes to cosmetic procedures. “I think that taboo changes when people talk about [injectables] and are honest about it,” Paltrow told Glamour when she became the face of the antiwrinkle injection Xeomin in September 2020. “I think there’s a lot of celebrities in our culture who clearly use injectables, and I think it’s nice for women to understand, Oh, if you’re past 45 and you have no wrinkles of any kind, you might be getting a little bit of help here and there. And I think it’s nice; I think it’s a more candid and a more transparent approach to beauty.”

She continued, “I would never want to be prescriptive about what I think people should do. Some women really don’t want to do them and some women love them. I think that’s part of the thing as well, not creating a space of judgment around what other women’s choices are, in anything in life.”
